Family Bible Class
At the end of February, 2006, we finished the second part of our study of Acts, chapters 5-12. The title of our study of Acts is The Lord Jesus Builds His Church Just Like He Said He Would. We have seen how the building of the church followed exactly the plan that the Lord Jesus laid out in His ministry on earth, incorporating Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles. We have seen how the early church was enabled to stand up under persecution similar to that suffered by many of our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.
Our Family Bible Class meets 9:30 - 10:30 am Sunday mornings before worship time. Most of the time we are all together, learning the Bible as families. From time to time, we have a separate class for children 12 and under. We do have a nursery if babies and toddlers need to be taken out. On occasion, we have special missionary speakers.
Our church library is a constantly growing educational resource. It contains a wide variety of good Christian books (700+), both non-fiction and fiction, and a small selection of videocassettes and DVDs (90+). There is also a section (for educational purposes) with history, biography, science, and classic fiction that are from a Biblical worldview, but not necessarily explicitly Christian. Currently, many of the church's kids and several adults are enrolled in a new church library reading program, which kicked off April 6, 2008.
One of our library's youngest fans!
From April to August, 2006,we followed a curriculum from Answers in Genesis that was about learning information that enables one to defend the truth of God's creation of all things = creation apologetics. Children under 12 followed a parallel curriculum. This was an informative and profitable study for our church. We studied  Acts from September, 2006 to March, 2007, stopping in the middle of Acts 18, at the end of Paul's second missionary journey. Then we went through the statement of beliefs of the church (found on this website) led by Mr. Zell, who is preparing for ordination as an elder. In the summer months, Pastor Cobb taught us how to study the Bible, using many different passages as examples. We finished the summer with a look at Acts 2:41-45, examining how we can be like the early church.
"And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up." (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
September, 2007 through February, 2008, we finished our fourth and final series on Acts, going to the end of Acts. Currently, Pastor Cobb is teaching to us from Romans, while a separate class for 12 and under studies people from the Bible who exemplify important character qualities.
